Sometimes I have to laugh!
A few years back the economy was a lot better and the real estate market was healthy! Previously anyone who had a real estate license and knew how to write or type could make a nice living.
Those were the good old days when store clerks would ask for a person’s real estate license for identification rather than the driver’s license, because not everyone had a driver’s license.
“I have to laugh,” says Heidi Hines, a Charlotte, NC/Lake Norman/Highland Creek real estate expert, “when I hear agents complain about how much harder they have to work to get just one piece of business. Hard work is what it is and always has been about. Regardless of the market conditions, serious full time agents always have to work hard to make things happen.”
“You can compare our industry to an NFL team, when the team is winning their fans love them and back them, but when they start to lose, many of the fans will walk away and not participate,” says Hines.
Agents, who jumped into a real estate career expecting the easy life, are the same agents who have walked away from their careers to pursue something else. “When this happens, the public is the winner,” says Heidi Hines, “because the agents who stick around when things get tough are the survivors, they are the ones that go to work when things get tough.”
