Realtors® work for free
When you hire a real estate agent to help you buy or sell a house, the agent is working for free, that is until they perform. Believe it or not, some people actually think that an agent is paid a salary plus commission by their brokerage firm, which in the majority of cases is simply not true.
Although there are some brokerages that do pay their agents a salary plus commission, there are very few. Heidi Hines, a local Charlotte, NC/Lake Norman/Highland Creek real estate expert says, “You would think the thought of not getting paid unless you perform is enough to put an agent’s best foot forward, but that is not always the case.”
Hines says, “My first priority is to be a problem solver for my buyers and sellers. It is important to me that I exceed their expectations and provide them with the kind of service they will never forget. I know by doing an exceptional job, I will receive compensation in more ways than one.”
Just like in any sales job, if you treat a person right they will continue to seek out your services, and refer you to others.
One of the best ways to assure you are hiring an agent who is not just thinking about the money, is by asking for testimonials from people who they have worked for in the past.
The testimonials that provide a telephone number of the previous client, are the ones you can pretty much rely on. An agent is not very likely to give you a contact number if it is not a legitimate letter.
